Reminder: put the agreed split in a founders’ agreement with 4-year vesting and a 1-year cliff. Read Co-founders: finding one and splitting equity fairly.
Frequently asked questions
Is an equal split wrong?
No. Equal splits are common and fine when founders contribute similarly and are equally committed. This tool helps when contributions clearly differ.
What about vesting?
Whatever the split, use vesting — typically 4 years with a 1-year cliff — so equity is earned over time.
